Doctor of Sciences in Biochemistry, awarded for his thesis entitled "Effect of benzo[a]pyrene on lipolysis in vitro and in vivo", Philippe Irigaray is one of the precursors to link pollution to obesity. His knowledge of physiology, metabolic syndrome and cancer brought him to join ARTAC in 2005 as the scientific director of their Research Center in order to work on the links between diabetes and cancer in collaboration with Pierre Potier and his team at the Institute of Natural Substances (CNRS) in Gif-sur-Yvette, France. Since then, he has co-authored numerous scientific articles with Professor Dominique Belpomme in the field of environmental health. Philippe Irigaray is also a member of the Scientific Committee of the European Research Institute of Cancer and the Environment (ECERI) and one of the representatives of the International Society of Doctors for the Environment (ISDE) in France.
