Carcinogenesis & Mutagenesis
Carcinogenesis, also named as oncogenesis or tumorigenesis, it is the formation of a neoplasam, whereby normal cells are transformed into cancer cells. An agent which may produce cancer (uncontrolled cell growth), either by itself or in conjunction with another substance is carcinogen. The process is characterized by changes at the cellular, genetic, and epigenetic levels and abnormal cell division. A material that induces genetic changes (mutations) in the DNA. Mutagenesis is a process by which the genetic information of an organism is changed, resulting in a mutation. It may occur spontaneously in nature, or as a result of exposure to mutagens.
